External Hard Drives – A PITA

I can’t believe the trouble I’m having with the external hard drive I purchased almost a month ago. I purchased a SeaGate FreeAgent Pro 750GB drive (sounds like heaven, right?) only to find that it’s a huge pain in the rear just to get the thing to work.

I’m trying to hook it up to my Mac G4 using eSATA, one of the fastest data transfer types on the market right now. I thought it would be easy, just purchase a PCI card, get a PCI bracket to hook the external cables into, and.. it should work. No dice.

So, I’ve been sitting on Macenstein’s blog, trying to figure out how I can achieve glory. Anyone who has any ideas, I’d really be appreciative. I need to get this baby working!
