New Wallpaper – Happy Holidays 2009

Happy Holidays!

This year I tried a different illustration approach and went with a stippling effect. If you’re unfamiliar with the technique, it consists of inking tiny dots that form shapes, giving an appearance of a shadow in the illustration. The closer the dots are to each other, the darker the shadow gets.

New Wallpaper – Happy Halloween 2009

Happy Halloween!

This is my favorite time of year and I try to at least get a new wallpaper up each year for people to enjoy. This year I tried something new: I inked this digitally using my Wacom tablet instead of inking by hand and scanning in. The result is pretty nice, although it took a bit of extra effort because it’s still new to me. I’m going to try and develop this skill a bit more with upcoming works, we’ll see what happens.

Zombie Pub Crawl Site 2009

Well, it’s that time of year again. The time of year when moaning and groaning drowns out the city sounds of Minneapolis, the time for brains, drinks, and zombie fun. That’s right, it’s Zombie Pub Crawl time.

The annual Minneapolis Zombie Pub Crawl will take place on October 10th in the West Bank area of Minneapolis, MN. This year they’re expecting more than 4,000 zombies, which is a hell of a lot more than the 400 that attended the first year that I went. This will be my third year attending, I missed out last year but I’m flying in for some good ‘ol zombie fun.

I’ve had the privilege of being the web designer ever since the ZPC crew discovered my fan site, which is sorely in need of an update. This will be my third year designing the site and this time I incorporated a bit of my own illustrative skill to the header area. New Pirate and Teddy Bear Shirts From Seventh.Ink

X Marks The Spot

I’ve been meaning to do a pirate shirt for quite a while, and my ideas finally came to life in X Marks The Spot. The thing I dig the most about this design is the stylization that I put into it, the lines vary in weight and I really like the feel of it.

X Marks The Spot is available in two variations, Lemon and the Limited Edition Raspberry . We don’t reprint our Limited Edition Variant shirts, so they’re first come, first serve.

Furry Avenger

Next up is a new shirt for the ladies, which I named Furry Avenger. This little teddy bear has gone rogue, he’s tossing a grenade while parachuting to safety! I really love the color of these tees, the one on Eggplant is more of a nighttime version while the one on Lime is more of a sea morning version. Tasty.

As with the guys shirts, there are two variations of this design. The Lime version is the Limited Edition Variant, so again if you like this version you should pick it up before we run out as we won’t be restocking our LEV shirts.

4×4 Art Show

It’s pretty exciting to participate in art shows.. even if I can’t be present for them. Recently had some of my work displayed in a special show called the “4×4 Mini Mini Art Show”, held at Cartel in Tempe, AZ. I heard of this show via Spraygraphic, and thought it was a fantastic idea. Basically, every artist could submit two pieces of any kind but they had to be 4×4 exactly.

I submitted prints of Family Portrait and We All Scream For Halloween, and in the photo below you can see the latter of the two outlined with massive Photoshop skills.

Here’s what Spraygraphic had to say about the show:

On display were 12 PANELS CONSISTING OF 49 PIECES OF ART A PIECE… TOTALING 588 AMAZING PIECES OF ART!

Submissions came from over 300 Spraygraphic.com members and from over 20 countries including, UNITED KINGDOM, SPAIN, FRANCE, GREECE, MACEDONIA, RUSSIA, SLOVENIA, FINLAND, BRAZIL, CANADA, SCOTLAND, HUNGARY, AND MORE.

50% of the Art was from INTERNATIONAL ARTISTS.

New Illustration – Nosferatu

Nosferatu.. vampire. Wikipedia says:

The name Nosferatu has been presented as a Romanian word, synonymous with “vampire“. However, both seem to be largely a literary creation and its basis in Romanian folklore is uncertain.

This turned out a bit more demonic than I originally intended, but what the hell. I originally planned out a sort of midnight background with a moon and bluish color scheme, but then I decided it would be better if the sky was filled with fire and he was standing in water that reflected the sky. Thus, a very demonic vampire illustration was born.
