Tons of Little Big Planet Goodies in April

The folks over at Media Molecule are really amping up the goodies for Little Big Planet in April. Here’s a solid list of what Little Big Planet fans can expect this month, provided by the Little Big Planet Workshop:

April 16th : Monkey King Costume : FREE
The costume competition winning design from Asia – the Monkey King. Contains :

April 16th (provisional) : 1.12 “Cornish Yarg” update : FREE
This update addresses several outstanding issues with the game :

There is a new music player which lets players choose their own music from the XMB to play during create mode and in their Pod
Improved decoration mode makes it easier to customise your Sackboy
Option to delete all (unhearted) community objects and photos
Option to select whether to automatically collect community prizes and photos
A number of improvements have been made to make profiles more robust and to recover from certain errors
We now support Japanese and Korean IME for text chat.
Emitter prediction has been improved (this should help fast-moving projectiles e.g. in MGS levels)
The player proximity switch now has a ‘require all’ option in it
An option has been added to cycle between various level information when viewing community levels on the earth
Various LittleBigStore improvements

April 23rd (provisional) : Creator Pack 1 : FREE
A collection of new tools and functions to help aspiring creators:

Infinite lives checkpoint
Visibility tweak option on certain joint objects (to hide these in Play mode)
Global settings object (to trigger lighting changes)
Tetherless jetpack
Angle range proximity switch (additional functionality on proximity and magnetic key switches)

April 23rd : Heavenly Sword Mini-Pack : $2.99
Contains :

Nariko costume : Nariko sword, wig, dress

27 Heavenly Sword theme stickers

April 30th : Egyptian Mythology Mini-Pack : $2.99
Inspired by Egyptian mythology this pack has costumes for Anubis and Sekhmet along with 10 theme stickers to help you add some Egyptian flavour to your levels. Contains :

Little Big Planet Goes Kung Fu With New Costumes

Little Big Planet has unleashed Rag Doll Kung Fu costumes to commemorate the launch of the Rag Doll Kung Fu digital download game on the PS3, and I’m lovin’ them! As if it won’t be cool enough to play as a kung fu Sackboy, you’ll be able to sport an afro, a sensei mustache, and a FISH! At least, that’s what the sensei character appears to be holding in his hand.

Another great bonus is the fact that this set will open up a new door for those who like to create characters from scratch, for example, you can now build a Shaft Sackboy character using the afro and handlebar mustache from this set! Or, create your own emo rocker using the stylish black hair from the kung fu punk. The possibilities grow more and more each time a new costume set is released, and that’s just one reason why Little Big Planet is one of the most expandable games around.

Here’s the list of items included in this pack, which costs $5.99 in the Playstation Store:

Custom Crochet Sackboys – Awesome!

If you’re a fan of Little Big Planet, then you’ll love these custom crocheted Sackboy dolls that Maggie Wang designs and creates. On her site she displays her Sackboy versions of Hellboy, Spock, Daft Wullie, and Classic Sackboy, of which my favorite is definitely the Hellboy. Little Big Planet needs to make a Hellboy costume to use in the game!

On the popular video gaming site, Kotaku, there is a post showing Maggie’s version of a Prince of Persia Sackboy. VERY cool, and although I love the Hellboy version I must say that this one takes the cake. He’s got a sword and claws, for cryin’ out loud!

I thought these were so cool that a few months ago I actually tried to order one for my wife’s birthday, but after a few attempts at contacting Maggie, I’ve given up. I’m sure she’s overwhelmed with orders and emails, so I’ll have to hold off for a future date. I originally held off on posting about this because I didn’t want to ruin the surprise, but now that I know I won’t get one in time for my wife’s birthday, I can’t hold it any longer. These are just way too cool.
